“Ramirent” National Basketball League (NBL), which is Latvia’s second strongest club basketball tournament, reached the finals of BK “Jelgava” for the third year in a row, further consolidating itself in the status of the champions of this championship. From a sporting point of view, it would be logical to take the next step up, but in practice it is not so easy to do, and the exciting battles and the status of favorites at this level ensure that the games take place in a great atmosphere. And sports are much more enjoyable in front of full stands.
“Duels between cities are much more interesting than the games in Riga, where “Prometey” “peels” “Valmiera Glass”/ViA with a 30-point advantage. In Jelgava’s duels against Kandava, Salda and Gulbeni, there is unreal sporting fury in a positive sense. That’s the trick,” said Andris Justovičs, a veteran of BK “Jelgava”. “When I played professionally, I was paid and demanded results. I wanted to play better, earn a better contract, so there was a kind of pressure. Now we gather for two or three training sessions a week. This is our time, we enjoy it 110%. Our team is united, we charge each other, the victories are coming and the spectators are in the stands. Nothing more is needed.”
