Plane lands on highway A9 in Dobele region as part of Trojan Footprint 22 training

Participants from several NATO member countries practiced non-standard medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) capabilities between special operations and ground forces.

According to the training scenario, the C-146A “Wolfhound” landed on the A9 motorway at night, picked up an allegedly wounded soldier in an emergency and promptly transported him to a specialized medical institution outside Latvia.

The units involved in the exercise successfully completed the training scenario, thus confirming the interoperability of different types of NATO forces and enhancing cooperation, including through the involvement of host nation operations.

The exercise involved special task forces from the National Armed Forces and several Allied countries. The successful planning and execution of the tactical exercise in their areas of responsibility at the regional and national level was also supported by the Latvian State Limited Liability Company “Latvijas Valsts ceļi” and Kurzeme municipalities, as well as operational services.

The regular conduct of international military exercises in Latvia and other Allies, and the widespread involvement of Allies in such exercises, play a key role in training and strengthening NATO air, ground and naval co-operation, as well as special operations units, at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. collective defense capabilities and readiness to protect each Alliance from all security threats.

It has already been reported that the spring phase of the military training cycle “NAMEJS 2022” with several international exercises combined in Latvia is taking place from April 18 to May 27: Defender Europe, Knight Legion, Swift Response, Summer Shield and the Hedgehog, the largest military exercise in the Estonian Defense Forces. Within the framework of the international training “Defender Europe”, from May 2 to May 13, part of the previously planned US Special Operations Command in Europe military training “Trojan Footprint 22” will take place in the territory of Latvia.
