The previous highest air temperature recorded in the country on the second day of April was +20.4 degrees in 2017 in Daugavpils.

The maximum temperature record of April 2 was broken at 12 observation stations, including the capital, where the thermometer rose to +18.9 degrees.

At four o’clock in the afternoon, the air temperature ranged from +4.6 degrees in Kolka and +5.5 degrees in Pavilost to +21.9 degrees in Daugavpils.

The national heat record of April 1 was broken immediately by four degrees, the highest air temperature on Monday was +23.0 degrees in Daugavpils.

On the other hand, on Sunday, the March record was broken in almost all observation stations, and the new March heat record in Latvia is +22.8 degrees.

In the last month, a total of 78 heat records were broken in the country.

It has already been reported that precipitation is expected throughout Latvia on Wednesday, but it will be much less in the west than in the east, where heavy rains are predicted in some places, and thunderstorms with hail and damaging wind gusts are also possible. The rain will turn into snow, a blizzard is also expected.

On Wednesday afternoon in some parts of the country, in the evening, a layer of snow will form in many places, the roads will become slippery.
