Ukrainians destroy valuable Russian drone; Ukraine tenfolds production of long-range drones / Article

The Ukrainian Air Force has destroyed at least 326 drones used by Russia for attacks and reconnaissance in March. Since the start of the full-scale war, the Ukrainians have managed to destroy at least 8,757 Russian drones.

On Monday, April 1, the Ukrainians informed that a Russian “Forpost” drone, which was used for both attacks and reconnaissance, had been shot down over the Black Sea. It is one of the most technologically advanced Russian drones, with a value exceeding 7 million dollars.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in his nightly video message that the country needs to produce more drones because they will play a decisive role in the outcome of the war.

On the other hand, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fyodorov announced in an interview to the German publication “Welt” that this year, compared to last year,

Ukraine has succeeded in doubling the production of long-range drones.

The minister said that most of the drones used by Ukrainians to attack Russian oil refineries have a range of 700 to 1,000 kilometers. And now the Ukrainian forces also have drones with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. Fyodorov also predicted that

this year, the first drones using artificial intelligence technologies could appear on the front line.

For now, Ukraine has the greatest shortage of artillery shells, so the allies are working to increase the supply of ammunition. The think tank “War Research Institute” reports that the US administration is working to open new production facilities that would allow doubling the number of artillery shells produced in the country. One of these plants will be located in Texas and could begin operations in June.
