Asked if Poland is not worried about the slowdown of military support to Ukraine, Sikorskis noted that if everyone did what Latvia and Poland are doing, Ukraine would be in a much better position right now. According to him, it is positive that the Council of the EU has allocated 5 billion euros from the European Peace Mechanism to support Ukraine.

“Poland and Latvia have also committed to participate in the Czech initiative on the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. In the past 48 hours, a decision has been made that Poland’s contribution to this mechanism will be doubled. [..] We need an immediate US aid package for Ukraine. The US Congress and the US House of Representatives should be asked to move the vote forward. This is a question of US credibility. If there is no ammunition, it will have practical consequences and we cannot pretend that it will not be there,” said the Polish foreign minister.

Speaking about the incident where a Russian cruise missile entered Polish airspace last week, Sikorski stressed that this is a small part of what Ukraine is currently experiencing. According to him, such unprecedented air terror should shock everyone, including politicians in the US House of Representatives.

“We have the right to protect our territory, which is also NATO territory, but as allies we need to think about how to further support Ukraine, for example with air defense or hard ways, which could help prevent terror against the people of Ukraine,” said the Polish foreign minister.

At the press conference, the officials were asked about the Russian frozen assets for diversion to Ukraine. Karins said the EU is moving to use the proceeds of seized assets to help Ukraine. According to him, it is necessary to look even further, that is, not only at the profit, but at the assets of Russia, which in total reach several hundred billion euros in various European banks. In Karin’s view, these funds should be able to be used not only for the reconstruction of Ukraine, but also for arming.
