We are meeting with police inspectors of the municipality of Ādažu region at Carnikava elementary school. A short conversation with Inga Svenci, and let’s take the bull by the horns so that the presence of law enforcement officers and dogs at the educational institution will not be noticed by the students: “The goal is to control the use and distribution of illegal substances.”

Let’s go to school. We are accompanied by the principal and deputy principal of the educational institution. Each class is informed about what is happening.

The principal of Carnikava elementary school informs the students about the test, asking them about possible allergies or fear of dogs.

Anxiety is not noticeable in the children, mostly everyone is in a positive mood and happy about the visit of their four-legged friends. One of the bags attracts the trained dog more than the others, but in the end it is a false alarm.

The dog found money in the guy’s bag, because these animals are also trained to find cash. Also in another class, the dog paid attention to a young man’s bag.

Knowing that young people react quickly to the test and can hide the things taken with them, the locker next to the student was also checked. The contents of the boy’s backpack were checked to the last detail.

After the classrooms were visited, the locker rooms were also inspected. Nothing illegal is found there either. After a hard day’s work, dogs deserve a moment of rest and a sip of water.

“I really liked it, I could ride with the dogs more often. I have heard that dogs cause stress to children, but today we did not observe anything like that,” says the director.

The director points out that there have been reports of the presence of illegal substances in the elementary school: “There have been reports of children doing it outside of school, but also in 4th-6th grade. class pupils look for e-cigarettes smoked in shops”.

It should be noted that dogs do not search for or point to electronic smoking devices.
