In 2024, on April 2, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the informative report and draft order on Latvia’s involvement in the reconstruction of Ukraine in 2024.

Latvia to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine in 2024 for the total amount of 5,337,753 euros (3,337,753 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs euros; 2,000,000 to the Ministry of Economy euros). Also, the approved documents provide that 4,300,000 will be paid into the European Peace Mechanism for the support of the armed forces of Ukraine euros.

In 2024, Latvia will continue to focus on the Chernihiv region in such areas as: reconstruction of social infrastructure facilities; providing psychological support to women; the transfer of digitization and expertise to Ukrainian specialists in the fields of EU issues, territorial planning, etc.

From 2024, the implementation of reconstruction projects will be coordinated by the Central Finance and Contracts Agency as the Development Cooperation Agency of Latvia.

Latvia has been involved in the reconstruction of the Chernihiv region since mid-2022, renovating social infrastructure objects and housing, providing psychological support to women, as well as providing expertise in the field of territorial planning.
