The exhibition, whose opening event took place on April 1, presents works in many different techniques – fabrics, textile mosaics, felting, decoupage, jewelry, painting, sewing, decorations, knitting, crocheting, ceramics. Ginta Zaumane, Agnese Laicāne, Lucija Aizbalte, Valerija Mihailica, Svetlana Fedosejeva, Skaidrīte Kutra, Inta Lāce, Skaidrīte Krivāne, Ludmila Matsuk, Vija Lenberga, Nijole Daģe, Mārīte Melnbārde and Liene Dreimane offer their works to the visitors. The needlework studio in the Bauska community center is managed by Maira Vīke.

Raimonda Ribikauska said that the work of the studio is provided by the project “Establishment of a handicraft studio in the Bauska community center “Pasta 5”, which is financed by the municipality of Bauska region and the Latvian Rural Women’s Entrepreneurship Support Center.

“Each of us has talent. You just need a spark and a place to start creating. The community is an opportunity for everyone to come together and create,” said M. Vīke. She admitted that in the beginning there was mistrust, skepticism, also her own fears, but already at the first meeting 11 participants came, and currently the total number of project participants is already 26. “I look at the energy of the people who come. I was depressed myself last year, but now there is such inspiration coming from you. Today, you can all look at what we are doing here – sewing, crocheting, embroidering and much more,” said the head of the studio. She admitted that the number of participants will probably increase. “They call, they say that they noticed that something interesting is happening here, they ask if it’s still time to participate, or if it’s not too late,” says M. Vīke.

Project manager R. Ribikauska said that currently the project will run until November 31, but everyone involved hopes to find opportunities to continue it in the future. She positively assessed the fact that the representatives of the women’s association “Aspazija” also got involved.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by guests – both residents of Bauškės and visitors from the Lithuanian city of Biržie. The representatives of Lithuania admitted that it was pleasant to visit such an exhibition, and also said that they had noticed the Viļis Plūdonis museum while driving by – they praised the well-organized environment and admitted that, most likely, they would visit the museum again, but this time on a working day.

The studio is planning a fashion show in the summer and another exhibition in November. However, R. Ribikauska allowed that separate personal exhibitions can also take place, because some employees have something to show in their own, separate exhibitions. On the other hand, until April 7, the studio members are waiting for visitors in the premises of the community center “Pasta 5” at the same address – in Bauska, Pasta Street 5.
