Luxembourg is one of the wealthiest, high-wage countries in Europe and is famous for being the only country on the old continent that provides free transport for both locals and tourists.
However, Luxembourg is now considering the possibility of providing public transport also to French municipalities – those that border Luxembourg.
Such a service will operate during peak hours in the morning and in the evening, and the benefits of free transport will be available to those thousands of French citizens who go to work in Luxembourg every day. At the moment, the French only get to the border with free transport, but then they transfer to paid transport to return home.
