On August 19, at 8 p.m., the legendary German musician, member of the well-known musical groups “Modern Talking” and “Blue System” and songwriter Dieter Bohlen will perform a grandiose show in the Dzintari concert hall as part of his anniversary tour “40 Years Modern Talking”, who, responding to the fans’ call , returned to the stage after a sixteen-year hiatus.

Together with the group he will play all the most famous hits of “Modern Talking” and “Blue System”: “You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul”, “Cheri Cheri Lady”, “Brother Louie”, “Atlantis Is Calling (SOS for Love)”, “Magic Symphony”, “My Bed Is Too Big” etc

Anyone who has followed the career of the group “Modern Talking” knows the incredible story of musicians Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen. The duo formed in 1984, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, released its first hit song “You Are My Heart, You Are My Soul”, which reached the top of the music charts in 35 countries.

Three years later, when the duo had already broken up, the musicians could look at more than 60 million sold albums, and nothing was over yet… Their return in 1998 proved that “Modern Talking” is still at the top of the hit parade. After the duo’s second (and final) breakup in 2003, their combined sales of singles and albums reached 120 million. On the other hand, tickets for the first concert of this anniversary tour in Germany were sold out within 48 hours.

“Don’t miss the great show of Dieter Bohlen – the founder of the group “Modern Talking”!” the organizers of the concert invite.

Dieter Bohlen was born on February 7, 1954 in Bern near Oldenburg, Germany, to Hans Bohlen, a construction contractor, and his wife Edith. He has a brother, Uve, who is two years younger. He was fond of music since childhood. When Bolen was 12 years old, his father bought him his first guitar and he started composing his first songs. After finishing high school, Bohlen began his studies in economics at Georg August University in Göttingen, which he successfully completed in 1978.

In 1979, he was hired by the music recording company BMG and tried his hand as a solo performer. In 1980, he founded the project “Steve Benson”, whose first single was called “Don’t Throw My Love Away”. The next two singles “Love Takes Time” and “You’re A Devil With Angel Blue Eyes” followed. None of these singles reached the Top 100, and as a result the project ceased to exist in 1981.

In 1983, Dieter Bohlen married his longtime girlfriend Erika Sauerland, with whom he has two sons Mark (07/09/1985), Marvin Benjamin (12/21/1988) and a daughter Marilyn (23/02/1990). In 1984, Bolen founded the duo “Modern Talking” together with the hit singer Thomas Anders. Two years later, “Modern Talking” reached the top of the charts in Europe, Asia and Africa. In 1985 and 1986, the group reached the 1st place in the German singles chart five times in a row with the songs “You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul”, “You Can Win If You Want”, “Cheri Cheri Lady”, “Brother Louie”, “Atlantis Is Calling (SOS For Love)”.

In 1986, Bolen wrote the song “Midnight Lady”, which was sung by the then lead singer of “Smokie”, Chris Norman. This song also became No. 1 in Germany. A year later, Modern Talking broke up due to disagreements, and Bolen continued to write for other artists, among other things, making singer Si Si Ketch (CCCatch) famous. He continued his solo career in his band “Blue System”.

In 1989 Bolen met his future partner Nadia abd el Farrag, he divorced his wife to live with Nadia. This year, two songs composed by Bohlen were performed in the Eurovision Song Contest, representing Germany and Austria. German singer Nino de Angelo took 14th place and Austrian performer Thomas Forstner took 5th place.

In 1992, Austria tried again at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Zusammen geh’n” composed by Bohlen, but won only 10th place. In 1996, Bolen broke up with his girlfriend Nadia and married Veron Feldbusch. The marriage lasted only a month and ended in scandal. Feldbusch accused Bolen of abuse, but did not win. Bolen renewed his relationship with Nadia abd el Farrag.

In 1998, the duo “Modern Talking” celebrated their reunion, six successful albums were recorded, but in 2003, Bolen and Anders broke up again due to mutual insults. In 2001, Nadia abd el Farraga left Bolen and he started living with model Stefania Ingrid Kiester (called Estefania), in 2005 their son Maurice Kasian was born (07.07.2005), but in June 2006 the couple divorced.

His autobiography “Nothing but the truth” (“Nichts als die Wahrheit”), written together with journalist Katja Kessler, became a bestseller in 2002 and received the Golden Feather award the following year. Bolen continued his extroverted and direct manner of speaking. The second book “Behind the Scenes” (“Hinter den Kulissen”) by the author duo Bolen/Kesler contained many provocative statements and defamatory remarks about prominent persons and was censored as a result. Producer Frank Farian responded to this publication with his book “This Stupid Bolen”, where he presented his views on Bolen’s personality, career, success, etc.

In 2002, Dieter Bohlen became one of the jury members of the show “Germany is looking for a superstar” (“Deutschland sucht den Superstar”). At the beginning of 2003, together with 10 finalists of the show, he recorded the single “We have a dream”, which became the best-selling hit of the year in Germany. The album of the finalists “United” produced by Bolen, as well as the cooperation with individual participants of the show, was very successful. The year 2003 is also notable for the fact that Bolen signed advertising contracts with such companies as “Müller Milch”, “Makro Markt”, “S.Oliver” and “O2” and at the end of the year he released the perfume series “Provocation”.

In 2005, a satirical animated film by Michael Schaak based on Bolen’s biography was shown on the RTL television channel, and in 2006, Bolen’s solo album was released, which contained 12 new songs, including one previously unreleased Modern Talking song, “Shooting Star”. Bolen continued his work also in the jury of “Germany is looking for a superstar”. They continued their collaboration, resulting in five albums, “Mr.Lonely” (2007), “Dreamcatcher” (2007), “Cloud dancer” (2008), “Club Tropicana” (2009) and “Rainbow’s end” (2010).
