In the first two months of this year, the export of Latvian wooden furniture decreased by 27% compared to the corresponding period of 2023, including the largest number of wooden furniture still sold in Denmark, according to the data compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the first two months of 2024, wooden furniture was exported from Latvia in the amount of 25.625 million euros, including to Denmark – 8.375 million euros, which is 32.7% (in the corresponding period a year ago – 27.2%) of the total export of wooden furniture and for 12.3% less than in the first two months of 2023.

On the other hand, wooden furniture worth 2.922 million euros was exported to Germany in the first two months of this year, which is a drop of 38.7% compared to the first two months of 2023, and to Sweden – worth 2.1 million euros, which is a drop of 21.7 %. The export of wooden furniture to Germany was 11.4% (a year ago – 13.6%) of the total export of wooden furniture, and to Sweden – 8.2% (a year ago – 7.6%).

At the same time, wooden furniture worth 11.589 million euros was imported into Latvia in the first two months of 2024, which is a drop of 18.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2023.

The data of the Ministry of Agriculture show that wooden furniture in Latvia was mostly imported from Poland – worth 3.966 million euros, which is 12.2% less than in the first two months of 2023 and 34.2% (in the corresponding period a year ago – 31.6%) from the total import of wooden furniture.

In the first two months of this year, Latvia imported wooden furniture worth 1.851 million euros from Lithuania, which is also a drop of 12.2% and accounted for 16% (a year ago – 14.8%) of the total wooden furniture import, while from China – for 1.495 million euros, which is 7.6 times more than a year ago and 12.9% (a year ago – 1.4%) of the total import of wooden furniture.

In the first two months of 2023, Latvia exported wooden furniture worth 35.108 million euros, but imported it worth 14.293 million euros.
