The circumstances of the death of the man named Ashkab Uspanova are not specified. His mother Taisa Uspanova states that he was detained at the bus stop while going to work with his wife.

After his arrest, Uspanov called his wife. She wanted to come after him, but he asked her not to, because the police had not brought any charges against her. Later, however, he asked his wife to come to the station.

According to his mother, Uspanova’s wife arrived at the station two hours later, but its employees told her that her “husband is no longer there.” Taisa Uspanova emphasizes that her son was buried in Chechnya, but did not specify when and how his body was handed over to her and whether it showed signs of torture. She also did not name the circumstances of death.

On March 29, Uspanov’s death was also reported by Chechen oppositionist “Telegram” channel “1ADAT”. It states that Uspanov went home from work, but at the bus stop he was attacked by people in masks and he, not realizing that they were employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB), resisted.

The channel writes that Uspanov was tortured after his arrest.

“1ADAT” also published a video showing his corpse after an autopsy. In it, a person states that he was hanged by the security services.
