Dan Mancina is a professional skateboarder who gained popularity by posting skating videos on Instagram. He has gathered a large fan base there thanks to his great skateboarding skills and tricks.
But this is not an ordinary story about an ordinary athlete who gained easy and quick popularity.
Daniel (Dan) Mancina was born in Michigan, USA. Already in childhood, he was fond of sports. According to “Surfer Today”, the young aspirant experienced a turning point at the age of 13, when he was diagnosed with a congenital eye disease – retinitis pigmentosa. Due to the disease, he lost 90% of his vision.
However, the difficult health condition has not stopped him from his passion for skateboarding. He continues to break the usual boundaries of sports.
By his example, Dan has inspired many to follow their dreams regardless of any challenges or obstacles they may face.
To help make skateboarding more accessible to the visually impaired, Dan has launched a fundraising campaign to build the world’s first adaptive skate park specifically for the visually impaired.
The goal of the park is to introduce skateboarding to visually impaired and blind children and possibly include skateboarding in the Paralympic Games by 2028.
