“Foreign volunteers were killed and wounded as a result of an enemy strike on Berislav,” Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the military administration of the Kherson region, said on the Telegram app.

He did not specify the duties of these volunteers, but described them with a Ukrainian word that usually means workers of humanitarian organizations.

“The Russian army killed two French citizens. Three more foreigners were slightly injured,” Prokudin added, expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased.

Ukraine’s national police reported that the drone attack killed two men with French citizenship and injured four others. One of the injured was a 41-year-old man from Odessa.

“All the victims came to Kherson region as volunteers,” police said on the Telegram app, adding that they had launched an investigation into the attack.

Berislava, located on the Dnieper River close to the front line, is regularly attacked by Russian drones and artillery. On January 27, one person was killed in this city by a bomb launched from a Russian drone.
