The demand for foreign workers in Latvia continues to grow, Līna Lāsa, head of expansion of the “Deel” platform in Central and Eastern Europe, admitted to the LETA agency.

As the representative of “Deel” stated, this year the number of Latvian companies using the international personnel management platform “Deel” has increased by 35%, and the number of foreign workers employed remotely by Latvian companies has more than doubled.

Among the most popular countries from which Latvian companies have hired employees, Lāsa mentioned Egypt, Macedonia, Georgia, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Philippines and Azerbaijan. On the other hand, the most popular sectors in which Latvian companies hire foreigners were computer software and software development, information technologies and services, marketing and advertising, cosmetics, financial services, design, entertainment, as well as the road transport sector.

According to Lāsa, the most popular sectors in which Latvian employees are hired by foreign companies are computer software development, information technology and services, financial services, computer game development, personnel management, marketing and advertising industry, internet media, programming, as well as security specialists.

Asked about current events in the personnel management industry, Lāsa said that “Deel” observed five common trends in general, and although they change depending on the region, industry and company size, she expects that Latvian companies will also follow them.

For example, among the trends, Lása listed the provision of remote work and flexible working hours, the creation of a more inclusive work environment and teams, investments in the well-being of employees and the development of professional skills, as well as the fact that data and analytics are increasingly used in the field of personnel management, which allow us to gain insight into the behavior of employees , in performance and satisfaction.

Lāsa revealed that so far more than 600 local and foreign employees have signed employment contracts in Latvia through “Deel”. This year, despite the economic challenges, a 35% increase has been observed among Latvian companies that use “Deel” services, and the company predicts that the growing trend will continue in 2024 as well.

Deel is an international HR platform that helps companies simplify all aspects of international workforce management. “Deel” works with full-time employees in more than 150 countries according to the requirements of local legislation.

According to “Firmas.lv”, “Deel” is represented in Latvia by the company SIA “Deel Latvia”, registered in July 2021. The share capital of the company is 2,800 euros, but the sole owner is “Deel”, registered in the USA.
