After losing to the Croatians in the last match of the European Championship qualifiers, the Latvian national team was on its way to Warsaw on Sunday, where the opponents, the Poles, will be angry because they did not enter the final tournament of the continent, leaving the Czech Republic and Albania in front of them in the group.

The midfielder of the Latvian national team, Alvis Jaunzems, expressed confidence that the meeting with the Polish national team will be another opportunity for a good game where they can prove themselves. The game against Poland will be special for a number of players of the Latvian national team, who play in Poland’s highest league, or extra class, on a daily basis. Also for Jaunzem, who moved to Melec “Stal” in the summer.

While preparing for the match, the Latvian footballers analyzed the opponent’s playing style in theory according to the preparation plan on Monday, and Jaunzems expects that the team will be properly prepared for the match.

“The coach will still give us certain instructions both today in training and tomorrow before the game, so that the plan will be ready for the game. Football is loved in Poland and, I think, the stadium will be full,” said Jaunzems. “Teammates too [klubā] asked about this game, also the coach, I think I will follow. Of course, every football player likes to play in a full stadium, where there is a good atmosphere, and that’s where you get the feeling of real football.”

Polish media reports that a very large number of tickets are still available for the match. The match could be attended by 35-40 thousand spectators – such a low figure has not been seen in Poland for a long time.

The management of the Latvian Football Federation has so far refrained from publicly expressing its assessment of the performance of the head coach of the national team, Daiņas Kazakevičas, and stated that the appropriate time for this would be at the end of the year, after the November games.
