Ostapenko, who is ranked 12th in the WTA and is seeded number one in the competition, defeated Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the owner of the 42nd place in the world ranking, 6-2, 6-3.

Even though with four break points, Ostapenko won the first game by serving herself, but in the second game she reached 2-0 with the first break point.

Pavlyuchenkova scored the first point in the fourth game (1-3), but in the eighth game she lost her service game “dry”, Ostapenko winning the set 6-2.

In the second set, which Ostapenko started with a serve, both tennis players won their service games until the sixth game, when Ostapenko won 4-2 with the second break point.

On the other hand, Ostapenko, who lost the eighth game in a “dry” manner, took revenge in the ninth game by winning four games in a row, winning the set 6-3 and entering the final.

Ostapenko has earned 325 world ranking points for reaching the semifinals.

In the final, Ostapenko will meet the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (WTA 21), who is seeded second in the tournament. On Saturday, she defeated Croatian Donna Vekic (WTA 34), the third seed of the tournament, 5-7, 7-6 (7:4), 7-6 (8:6).

The two tennis players had met five times so far, with the Latvian first racket celebrating four victories. The Russian celebrated her only victory in the second round of the 2019 St. Petersburg “WTA 500” series tournament, but in three of the victories, the match ended in two sets for Ostapenko. The last time the tennis players met in the first round of the 2021 Eastbourne “WTA 500” series tournament, Ostapenko won the tournament 6-1, 6-3 on her way to the title.

Ostapenko was free from the first round match, in the second round she defeated Denmark’s Klara Tauson (WTA 91) 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9:7), but in the quarterfinals she defeated the world number 102 with 6-1, 6-2 .the owner of the place, British tennis player Jody Barrage.

In Linz, Pavlyuchenkova defeated Italian Martina Trevisan (WTA 57th) 6-4, 6-0, British tennis player Katie Boulter (WTA 53rd) 7-6 (7:2), 6-4 and 6-3, 6 -2 – the fourth racket of the tournament, the Belgian Elise Mertens (WTA 26th).

This is the first tournament for both tennis players after the Australian Open, where Ostapenko reached the third round and Pavlyuchenkova lost in the second match. At the beginning of the year, the Latvian tennis player won the Adelaide “WTA 500” tournament, winning WTA singles tournaments for the seventh time, and Pavlyuchenkova has won 12 WTA singles tournament trophies.

The Latvian tennis player is not competing in the doubles tournament this time.

The indoor tournament in Linz takes place on hard courts. In 2019, when there was a “WTA 250” level tournament in Linz, Ostapenko fought until the final, where she lost to American Corrie Goff in three sets.
