In the first two games of the World Championship, Latvia lost to the Canadians (0:6) and Slovaks (1:2), but then won against the Czechs (4:3 in extra time), Norwegians (2:1), Slovenians (3:2), Kazakhs (7 :0), the Swiss (4:3 in extra time) and the Swedes (3:1), reaching the semi-finals for the first time.
Latvia’s impressive victory march, the great success in the last game of the group and the mighty triumph in the quarter-finals are also reflected in the power ranking. Already the first place!
As already reported, in the first and second editions of the power ranking, Latvia took ninth place, but in the continuation it was in eighth, seventh and third positions.
The IHF Power Rankings are made for entertainment purposes and are not official in nature. At the same time, it is an attempt to rank according to the balance of power. The casual ranking is updated during the championship based on the results shown by the national teams.
