Qualifying for the finals in the sprint and a couple of other distances is two-stage – after two days, the 24 strongest athletes will fight for entry into the top 12 who will compete in the NCAA championship.
Medved covered the distance in 28 minutes and 45.67 seconds, setting a new personal record, but finished 16th and did not make the top 12 to qualify for the NCAA Championships
On the other hand, only three attempts are given in horizontal jumping and all throwing disciplines. In the all-around, the top 24 qualified after the conference championships. Among Latvian all-rounders, Kristīne Blaževiča qualified for the NCAA Championship.
In another 800-meter run, Oskars Bambals, finishing in one minute and 50.41 seconds, ranked 31st, while other Latvian athletes are scheduled to start later. Rūta Kate Lasmane and Ieva Turķe will compete in the triple jump, Elīza Marija Kraule – in the high jump, Patricija Karlīna Roshof – in the 4×400 meter relay, and Blaževiča will compete in the 100 meter hurdles and the high jump.
