World-famous actor John Malkovich reveals his favorite place in Riga

On May 28, John Malkovich and Ingeborg Dapkunaite will star on the stage of the Great Hall of the Daile Theater in the premiere of the production of Bernard Marie Collette’s play “The Loneliness of Cotton Countryside”. The work, as described by Malkovich in the LTV program “Kultūrdeva”, is about simultaneous “desire and shame for desire” and is by no means the simplest.

“Of course the theater, the rehearsal room. I’ve also worked in Vilnius, Lithuania, but I’ve enjoyed it here since I first arrived. I’m very happy to come back here. Very nice city!” The Hollywood actor praised Riga.

The NRA portal has already written that the production of “The Loneliness of the Cotton Countryside” is based on a play by Russian director Timofey Kulabin. The show will have subtitles translated into Latvian and Russian. The production at the Daile Theater is being made in cooperation with the Contemporary Art Support and Development Foundation “Territija”, with the participation of the “M-art” and “Blavatnik Family Foundation” foundations.

The first stage of rehearsals at the Daile Theater began on January 15. Now the team is back in Riga to have the premiere at the end of the month.
