A car driver died in an accident on the Tallinn highway in Saulkrasti district

On Wednesday, August 10, around 11:20 p.m. in Saulkrasti district, at kilometer 33 of the Tallinn highway, the driver of a “Mercedes Benz” ran into a stationary “Volvo”. The driver of the “Volvo” car died from his injuries in a medical facility. The State Police continues to explain the circumstances of the incident.

Since the beginning of the week, 206 road traffic accidents have been registered in the Riga region, in which 28 people were injured and two died, according to the information of the State Police. Among the victims are three pedestrians, six cyclists and three drivers of electric scooters, according to information from the State Police.

It has already been reported that on Monday around 17.00, on the gravel road between Kārkla and Muižas Street, according to initial information, a motorcycle driver drove off the road, slid into a ditch, and the motorcycle fell on top of the rider. As a result of the accident, the driver of the motorcycle died from his injuries.

In the last three days, nine drivers of vehicles were arrested in Riga and in the vicinity of the capital under the influence of alcohol and one under the influence of narcotic substances. 165 administrative violation protocols for speeding and three protocols for aggressive driving were drawn up.

Since Monday, two car thefts, 16 bicycle thefts, as well as four thefts from homes have been registered in Riga and Pieriga.
