Yesterday and last night, four matches in the first round of the Stanley Cup took place in the National Hockey League (NHL). Uvja Balinska represented Florida “Panthers” lost 3-6 to Tampa Bay “Lightning” and did not secure a place in the next round.
Brenden Hegel (2+1), Brayden Point (1+2) and Viktor Hedman (0+3) scored three points each in the “Lightning” ranks, while captain Steven Stemkos stood out with two goals.
The New York Islanders broke the Carolina Hurricanes’ resistance in the second overtime, celebrating a 3-2 win, the team’s first in the series. Matthew Barzal scored the winning goal in this match.
The Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1, the same result in the series. After two periods, Boston led 3-0 on goals by James van Riemsdyk, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, which the Canadian club answered with a Mitch Marner goal.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime, reducing the series deficit to 1-2. Wyatt Johnston scored the winning goal.
