“The incident is currently being evaluated,” the CAA statement noted.

The Finnish media “Ilta-Sanomat” reports that on Friday, March 29, on the “airBaltic” plane, which was on its way from Helsinki Airport to Riga, oxygen masks fell in the cabin above the seats shortly after takeoff.

It has already been reported that airBaltic carried a total of 4.5 million passengers last year, which is 36% more than in 2022, and made more than 44,000 flights, which is 18% more than a year earlier.

The audited turnover of “airBaltic” last year amounted to 664.289 million euros, which is 33.2% more than in 2022, and the company also made a profit of 33.852 million euros, in contrast to losses the year before.

The Latvian state owns 97.97% of airBaltic’s shares, while “Aircraft Leasing 1” owned by the financial investor, Danish businessman Lars Tūsen, owns 2.03%.

The purpose of the CAA’s activity is to implement state policy and administration in the field of Latvian airspace use and civil aviation activities, by monitoring the safety of civil aviation aircraft flights and civil aviation safety, as well as monitoring the compliance of pollution caused by aircraft with environmental protection requirements.
