Mission “Mars 2050”

The children’s room invites you to learn the various skills that a future astronaut needs in order to be able to go on a mission to Mars in 2050. With the help of the Space Knowledge Center, we will publish a task every day that will help children become active, independent, critical thinkers – real astronauts.

We will post one challenge every day that will help you develop one of the skills an astronaut needs, you just have to practice hard!

Exercise “Astronaut’s air chair”

The “Astronaut’s Air Chair” exercise strengthens the leg and abdominal muscles, which are important for moving and working in microgravity conditions in space. Doing this exercise also improves the patience and concentration that astronauts need to perform complex tasks. This will help develop the endurance required for long-duration space missions. Thus, “Astronaut Air Chair” is more than a physical exercise – it is a step closer to becoming a good astronaut!

Your exercise today:

1. Prepare the station: Find an empty place next to the wall where you can safely lean against it with your back. Make sure there is nothing nearby that could disturb you.

2. Set the timer: Set a timer or ask someone else to be the timer. This will be your timer to see how long you can stay in the “space chair”.

3. Starting position: Stand with your back to the wall. Put your feet slightly forward so that when you start the descent, your knees form a right angle.

4. Landing in the rising rocket: Slowly lower yourself, sliding your back against the wall until you are in a sitting position as if you were sitting on an invisible chair. Your thighs are parallel to the floor and your knees are at a right angle.

5. Counting time: Activates the timer just when you are fully lowered into the sitting position. Now your task is to stay in this position as long as possible, imagining that you are in space and waiting for your rocket to launch.

6. Fixing time: When you can no longer hold the position, return to a standing position and stop the timer. Record your time – that’s your record for today!

Write down how long you can hold on. Every day try to increase this time, becoming an even more durable and strong astronaut!

Remember that every second is a step closer to becoming the best astronaut! Good luck!
