The maneuvers in Gomel and Grodno regions will continue for three days, and their purpose is to prepare officers and territorial defense units for the defense of the respective regions, the ministry stated on its Telegram app channel.

The army personnel are also learning the procedures to be followed in the event of declaring martial law, the ministry informed.

The maneuvers are taking place under the supervision of the commander of the missile troops and artillery of the Belarusian army, the statement said.

At the same time, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko spoke last week about the need to prepare for a possible attack on Lithuania and Poland.

Lukashenko also spoke about the vulnerability of the so-called Suwalki corridor.

The Suwalki Corridor, where Lithuania borders Poland, separates the Russian-held exclave of Königsberg (Karalyuči) and the territory of Belarus.

The portal LA.LV already reported on March 26 of this year that the Azerbaijani television had placed a video on its “You Tube” channel, which shows the conversation of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the leadership of the troops.

In the video, Lukashenko wants to clarify how far the Suwalki corridor is from the Russian border. Those present explain to him that it is only 42 kilometers in a straight line, and 90 kilometers on roads. To this, Lukashenko exclaims that it is nothing at all: “They behave like that in vain! We will have to confront the Baltic states and the northeastern part of Poland.”

Here the president also asks if the army leadership is sure that they could hold this line by their own forces. To which the answer is received that war documents exist, all actions are planned, combat readiness is being perfected. The troops are said to be ready to listen to Lukashenko’s orders, and are currently carrying out the commands of the Minister of Defense. Read more HERE.
