The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Monday the dismantling of a “terrorist cell” in the south of Russia and the arrest of four more people on suspicion of connection with the terrorist attack in the Moscow concert hall.

The FSB informed that members of a “terrorist cell” in Dagestan, North Caucasus, provided weapons and money to the perpetrators of the Crocus City Hall attack.

The four arrested in Dagestan on Sunday could be related to the supply of funds and weapons to the attackers, who killed 144 people in the terrorist attack on March 22.

The FSB claimed that one of those detained in Dagestan had admitted that he had personally supplied the weapons to the attackers.

A video released by the FSB shows one of the detainees confessing that an attack was also planned in Kaspiysk, Dagestan, which is predominantly Muslim. It is not clear whether the two confessions were made by the same person.

According to the information provided by the FSB, the detainees are foreigners, but their nationality is not specified.

Earlier, on suspicion of carrying out the terrorist attack, Russia detained four Tajik citizens and seven other persons suspected of involvement in the planning of the attack.

The “Islamic State” group claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. Western security experts believe that the Afghan branch of this organization – the “Islamic State – Khorasan Province” group – is behind the attack.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has admitted that the attack was carried out by “radical Islamists”, but continues to insist, without any evidence, that Ukraine and the West were involved.

In the wake of the attack, Russian security services have been criticized for failing to prevent the attack, despite US intelligence agencies privately and publicly warning of extremist plans to attack places of mass gathering in Moscow.

The “Reuters” news agency, citing anonymous sources, reported on Sunday that a few days before the Crocus City Hall attack, Iranian intelligence services informed their Russian colleagues about the information obtained during the interrogation of detained terrorists that a large-scale attack was being prepared in Russia.
