The two highest-grossing films of the year, “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Top Gun: Maverick”, as well as “Elvis”, a musical biography that achieved great success last summer, are also in the running for the best film award.

Other contenders for best picture include Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical The Fabelmans and the drama Tar, as well as Women Talking, a look at the residents of a repressive religious community, and Triangle of Sadness.

The 95th “Oscar” award ceremony will take place on March 12 this year at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian and TV talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. This will be the third time Kimmel has been given the honor of hosting the ceremony.
