The Riga municipality has produced street names and building address number plates with the names of Jānis Klīžīs, Kārļis Mīlenbach, Vilhelms Purvīš, Viļas Plūdonis, Valērijas Seiles and Augusta Spariņas streets and invites residents to receive them, informs the Riga municipality.

In order to receive the new signs, building owners and managers are invited to contact the Riga Neighborhood Residents’ Center at 31 Daugavpils Street, Riga, at least one day in advance by calling 80000800, so that the center’s employees can reserve time and prepare the signs for the specific property.

Signs will be issued to house owners or managers. If the owner of the building cannot personally come and receive the new signs, then they can also be received by persons who live or own property in the particular building. By presenting a personal identification document and signing a confirmation of receipt of signs, the person will assume full responsibility and obligation to replace the sign on the building. No proof of ownership is required.

The new street names and address signs have been issued to the owners of the buildings on Emīlijas Benjamiņas and Lastādijas streets since the end of March, as well as they have already been received by individual owners and managers of the buildings on Jānis Klīžės, Kārlis Mülenbach, Vilhelmas Purvīš, Viļas Plūdonis, Valērijas Seiles and Augusta Spariņas streets , with whom the municipality has contacted individually. On the other hand, the municipality will receive the new signs with the name of Latgales street in the first half of May.

According to the binding regulations of the Riga City Council, after receiving the new sign, the person must post it within one week.

The new signs must be installed in exactly the same places as the signs with the old street names and building addresses. The main conditions to be observed – the signs must be placed on the right side of the facade, at a height of 2.5 meters from the ground and at a distance of 0.3 to 0.5 meters from the corner of the building. Historically, street name signs and address signs may have been placed incorrectly near some buildings, and in such cases the signs must be placed correctly, in accordance with the binding regulations of the Riga City Council.

Old address plates and name plates can be handed over to sorted waste collection areas as scrap metal, at scrap metal collection points or placed in a household waste container. If there are lighting devices in the signs, they should be disposed of as electrical and electronic equipment by handing them over to “Latvijas Zaļā punkta” in the specialized boxes for small electronics.

As reported, on February 21, Riga City Council decided to rename Maskavas and several other streets in the capital. The new names of the streets of Riga are Latgales, Lastādijas, Jānis Klīžės, Kārļas Mīlenbach, Vilhelmas Purvīš, Viļas Plūdoņas, Emīlijas Benjamiņas, Valērijas Seiles and Augusta Spariņa streets.
