in 2023, 1.1 million or 76.6% of guest nights were booked by foreign guests, while 336 thousand or 23.4% were reserved by Latvian residents. Compared to 2022, the number of guest nights booked by both foreign guests (by 29.2%) and local guests (by 1.9%) increased. Compared to 2019, the number of nights booked by local guests increased twice, while the number of nights booked by foreign guests decreased by 6.1%.

Last year, the length of reservations made on digital platforms was 3.3 nights on average for foreign guests, and 1.8 nights for Latvian residents.

The data provides information on four digital platforms – Booking, Airbnb, Expedia and Tripadvisor – for booked guest nights in such short-term accommodation as guest apartments, apartments, holiday homes, holiday homes, cottages and similar accommodation, excluding hotels and similar accommodation, as well as campsites.

The largest number of accommodations in Latvia is available on the Booking platform, where guests were offered around 3.6 thousand tourist accommodations in June 2023. In the traditional data that CSB obtains from guest apartments, apartments, holiday homes, country houses, etc. etc. residences, information could be gathered from less than a thousand accommodations.
