Jelena Kozlova, VENDEN’s marketing director, states that this year’s activity in the competition far exceeded previous years. “This year we received 5,512 children’s drawings, which is almost 36% more than last year. If last year, 332 preschool educational institutions and educational institutions implementing preschool education programs submitted drawings to the competition, this year their number exceeded 400. We are truly glad that educators from all over Latvia are actively involved – the prizes will also travel to different regions this year. Many thanks to the educators for their creative approach, imagination, activity and educating children about water and its importance in our lives!”

The most or 1242 drawings were sent to the competition by 99 educational institutions from Riga. Educators were also active in Liepaja (338 drawings from 19 educational institutions), Jelgava (239 drawings from 15 educational institutions), Daugavpils (233 drawings), Cēsi district (218 drawings), Valmiera district (201 drawings), Madona district (189 drawings). , in Kuldīga county (181 drawings), Jūrmala (168 drawings), Tukuma county (160 drawings), Dienvikkurzeme county (157 drawings), Ogres and Saldus counties (144 drawings each), Jēkabpils county (134 drawings), Sigulda county (131 drawing), in Aizkraukle district (124 drawings), Mārupe district (122 drawings), Bauska district (121 drawings) and Alūksnes district (112 drawings) and elsewhere. In total, children’s works from 35 counties and 7 national cities of Latvia were sent to the competition.

For several days, all submitted children’s drawings were evaluated by an independent artistic jury, which consisted of two artists, members of the Latvian Artists’ Union and Baldones Art School teachers Tālivaldis Muzikantes and Ieva Muzikantes. Tālivaldis Muzikants comments on the jury’s assessment as follows: “This year, a record number of participants took part in the competition – more than 5500 drawings, which was, of course, a big challenge for the jury. It is nice that the teachers taught the children different techniques – watercolors, pastel crayons, gouache, felt-tip pens. There were even paintings in plasticine and collages with sand. Many children’s works this year stand out with positive artistic and emotional expression, creativity, treatment of forms appropriate to the child’s age, neat drawings, interesting compositions and color combinations, which create a joyful impression and are associated with water at the same time. Several non-traditional compositions, as well as the children’s research and ecological interest in the theme of water, were especially pleasing. On behalf of the jury, I would like to express my gratitude to all the participants and their teachers for their hard work and positive emotions. I wish you creative works every day and good luck in the future contests as well!”

As a result, the jury determined 5 winners, 23 promotion awards and 103 letters of thanks for the recipients of artistic performances. The educational institutions represented by the winners of the first five places receive a cash prize in the amount of 500 to 100 EUR for the purchase of materials useful for sports or studies, and the authors of the drawings – a prize from the family entertainment and recreation park ADVENTICA, a partner of VENDEN, located in the Olimpia shopping center in Riga, and gifts from VENDEN.
