“LTG Link” announced that “Starlink” internet services are already available in three trains, and in the fall four more trains will be equipped with it, which run on the most popular routes between Vilnius and Riga and Vilnius and Klaipėda.

In other trains, the Lithuanian company plans to improve the 5G internet connection.

Satellite Internet will automatically be activated in sections of the railway line where conventional Internet connections become weaker. Thus, both satellite and mobile Internet technologies will be able to be used simultaneously.

“LTG Link” stated that the availability of wireless Internet in trains is important not only for the private needs of passengers, but also for the possibility of paying for services with a payment card.

It has already been announced that “LTG Link” transported around five million passengers last year, which is 6.4% more than in 2022.

The number of passengers on Lithuanian domestic train routes increased by 4.7% year-on-year to 4.68 million. The record number of passengers reached in 2019 was also surpassed by 115,000, the company said.

Around 38,000 people used “LTG Link” trains for trips between Vilnius and Warsaw or Krakow last year, while “LTG Link” transported 1,300 passengers between Vilnius and Riga in the last five days of the year.

The Lietuvos geležinkeliai group, owned by the Lithuanian state, includes the company “LTG Infra”, which manages the railway network, the passenger transport company “LTG Link”, the cargo transport company “LTG Cargo” and other companies.
