Riga City Council invites you to participate in the seminar “General recommendations for residents of Riga in X hour”

On Wednesday, April 10, with the seminar “General recommendations for residents in the X hour”, the Riga City Council’s citizens’ information campaign and a cycle of eight seminars on civil protection will begin.

“With the campaign slogan “Riga civil defense plan – know and participate!” Riga residents are invited to be active, familiarize themselves with the information available on the website www.riga.lv and participate in the seminars organized by the municipality, because awareness contributes to a sense of security and avoids misunderstandings and mistakes,” emphasizes Linda Ozola, deputy chairman of the Riga City Council.

The seminar “General recommendations for residents of Riga in the X hour” is the first of eight seminars organized by the municipality, in which residents will be informed about the main things to know about Riga’s civil defense plan, evacuation, safe places of refuge, involvement in national defense and other important personal protection issues.

The seminar will take place on April 10 from 18.00 until 20.00 and it will be viewed online on the website of the municipality www.riga.lv and on the Facebook account @riga.lv. On the other hand, only those residents of Riga who will participate in the seminar in person in the Riga City Hall will be able to ask questions to the experts. Taking into account that the number of seats in the hall is limited, you must register your participation in the seminar in person by filling out the registration form: https://forms.office.com/e/GSB4sdUq9K. As soon as the maximum number of participants is reached, the registration form will be closed.

The civil defense plan was developed in cooperation with a wide range of experts from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Armed Forces and the State Fire and Rescue Service, therefore experts from these fields will be invited to the seminars organized by the municipality, who will explain the issues within their competence.

It has already been announced that on March 27, the Riga City Council unanimously adopted the new civil defense plan for the capital, which develops algorithms and provides concrete advice on how to act for citizens in various crisis situations, including in the event of a military threat. Riga is the first public sector institution that has included practical information for residents in its civil defense plan on how to prepare and act in the event of a military threat, therefore, throughout this year, various educational activities and seminars will be held, inviting residents of Riga to learn to cooperate.
