In the future, the State Forest Service will have five territorial structural units

Starting from April 1, 2024, changes are planned in the structure and work organization of the State Forest Service (SFS). There will be five instead of the previous ten forest management offices, while service services will be provided in 27 customer service locations in Latvia. VMD public relations manager Iveta Pavziniukas informs about this.

VMD General Director Arvīds Ozols explains the changes: «Structural optimization was carried out by realizing the goal set in our strategy – to create an efficient structure of the institution. We have taken into account such factors as the development of the digital environment and e-services, as well as the overall progress of the state administration in the direction of efficiency and reduction of bureaucracy. Certain changes in the work organization of the service have been made, taking care of equalizing the workload of the employees of the service, ensuring substitutability and improving the remuneration system.»

As of April 1, the following changes have been made to the structure of the VMD:

The functions of Northern Kurzeme Superforestry and Southern Kurzeme Superforestry are taken over by Kurzeme Superforestry with administration premises at Raina street 17, Talsos.

The functions of the Zemgale top forest and the Riga regional top forest are taken over by the Center top forest with administration premises at Brīvības street 129B, Ogre.

The functions of the Sélias Superforestry and Southern Latgale Superforestry are taken over by the Southern Superforestry with administration premises at Krišjāņa Valdemāra street 7, Daugavpils.

The functions of Eastern Latgale Superforestry and Northeastern Superforestry are taken over by Eastern Superforestry with administration premises at Bērzpils street 62, Balvos.

The functions of Northern Vidzeme Forestry and Central Vidzeme Forestry are taken over by Vidzeme Forestry with administration premises at Dārzu street 4, Cesvaine.

Customer service locations are maintained at 27 existing forestry locations. The days and times of customer reception are not changed. A map with the new areas of surface forestry and forestry is available on the website of the State Forest Service.
