The premises of the pharmacy will be located in the same building as the “Aibe” store, which is owned by local businessman Raitis Māskis. He explained to “Bauskas Dzīve” that the pharmacy’s premises are rented from him by the owner of the pharmacy, Ieva Lašina.
I. Lashina says that the exact date for the opening of the store has not yet been set, but the event is expected near the middle of April, and information about it will follow. “aptieka 1” is an association of independent pharmacies, which means that the pharmacies are not franchised – each of them is managed by the owner of the pharmacy, who is also an employee of the pharmacy. It’s like a little pharmacist’s big dream. We only share logistics with the company “Benu Aptieka Latvija”. We make the decisions about the operation of the store and everything else ourselves,” explains I. Lašina, “it is not possible to open a pharmacy anywhere there is a desire, because the neighborhood must have an appropriate number of residents and other criteria determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. In Veksauli, all requirements meet the regulations, we have already received a license.»
The manager of the pharmacy in Vecsaule will be I. Lašina’s mother, Salvija Lašina, and at least one more employee – a pharmacist – will work in the institution. All pharmacy employees, as required by law, must have the education of a pharmacist.

I. Lashina says that she has also had a pharmacy in Baltezer for three and a half years, but its concept is completely different from the one in Vecsaule. “In Baltezer, the pharmacy is located on the side of the A1 highway, so the customers are mostly passers-by. Many stop by to grab their medicine or something necessary for first aid and move on,” says I. Lašina, “The pharmacy in Vetsaule will be in the center of the parish, there is also a grocery store nearby, so the conditions are different.”
According to the data of the Central Statistics Office, in the village of Vecsaule, which is also the center of Vecsaule parish, 288 residents were registered in 2023. Vecsaule is 11 kilometers from Bauska.
