On Monday, the maximum air temperature record for the first day of April was broken in most of Latvia, according to the data of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LVĜMC).

The highest air temperature until 1 pm was +21.3 degrees in Daugavpils. It is also a new national April 1st record; the previous one was +19.1 degrees in 2017 in Stande.

The heat record was also broken in the capital, where +18.5 degrees was recorded at noon.

On one day, the air temperature in the LVĜMC observation network was from +6.5 degrees in Ventspils port to +20.9 degrees in Daugavpils.

It has already been reported that the first April 1 heat records were broken already at midnight.

On Sunday, the highest air temperature in the country was +22.8 degrees in Zvejniekciem. This is a new heat record for March 31 and the month in Latvia.

The maximum air temperature record for March was broken in all observation stations, except for Kolka and Mērsrag, where the southeast wind brought cool air from the Gulf of Riga.

It is expected that on Tuesday in Latgale, the national heat record of April 2nd – +20.4 degrees registered in Daugavpils in 2017 will be broken.

On Tuesday, cooler air will begin to flow in from the west, and not only rain, but also snow is expected in Latvia in the middle of the week, forecasters predict.
