On Friday, the municipal police clarified the list of water bodies in the territory of the capital, on which ice may be located.
At the beginning of the season, the ice thickness is primarily measured on those water bodies that are most popular with ice fishermen and where children and young people tend to go.
At the moment, when the weather is changeable and often in the pluses, more attention has been paid to the places where ice climbing is allowed to be slowly closed, so to speak.
A list of safe water bodies can be found on the website of the Riga Municipality Police, as well as a transparent map is available to view a specific location.
Of course, regardless of the measurements and the green areas shown on the map, everyone should check the ice firmness before stepping on the ice.

The municipal police reminds that the responsibility for being on the ice is defined in the Law on Administrative Penalties for violations in the field of administration, public order and the use of the state language. Violation of the law is subject to a warning or a fine of up to 100 euros.
