Since Friday, 146 road traffic accidents have been registered in the Riga region, in which 12 people were injured and one died, according to the information of the State Police. Three pedestrians and two cyclists are among the victims.
On Friday at 3:30 p.m., Riga, Jaunciema gatve 50, a man driving a “BMW” drove off the road and crashed. The driver of the car died at the scene. The police continue to explain the circumstances of the incident.
Over the weekend, eight drivers of vehicles under the influence of alcohol and one under the influence of narcotic substances were arrested in Riga and the capital’s surroundings. Three drunken drivers have been issued an administrative violation report, while six will be held criminally liable. In two cases, the caught driver will have his vehicle confiscated, and in four cases, its value will be recovered.
During the last three days, 79 administrative violation protocols for speeding and seven for aggressive driving were drawn up in the Riga region, as well as one car theft and one theft from a home.
