On Tuesday, November 14, “Gulbenes Buki/BJSS”, by defeating BK “Ķekava”, secured a place in the third round of the Latvian basketball “Užava” Cup.

“Gulbenes Buki/BJSS” won with a score of 91:60 and won the sum of two games with a score of 187:125.

The most productive players in the ranks of “Gulbenes Buku”: Renārs Magone – 19 points, Edgars Kaufmanis – 14 points, Sandijs Zujevs – 13 points, Rihards Bērziņš – 12 points and 10 steals, Rihards Teirumnieks – 11 assists and 8 points.

Chairman of the board of “Gulbenes Buku” Gatis Rikveilis tells “Dzirkstelei” that Renārs Magone plays for BK “Līvāni”. “Any basketball player from any club that does not participate in the Latvian Cup can play in the cup games. Namely, BK “Līvāni” is not participating in the Latvian Cup this season, and Renārs Magone will be in the “Buku” team in the cup matches, as they patch up the gaps. Seeing that “Gulbenes Buki” now has to meet BK “Ventspils” in the third round, the team had to be strengthened, and there were no other options like Renārs Magone, who was ready to join,” explains G. In the third round, “Gulbenes Buki” will meet BK “Ventspils” from the higher league. The game will take place on November 20 at 14:00 at the Gulbene Sports Center. Spectators and fans are strongly invited to support “Gulbenes Bukus”.

Ingars Aizpurs could probably join the return match in Ventspils after his injury, maybe Sandis Bēts could also return after his injury before the new year. It’s worse with Krister Elksnītis – he probably won’t play the whole season because he has a serious injury. The composition is as it is.
