On April 23, the Grand Guild’s Munster Hall sounded Antra Dreže led vocal groups “Birds” concert “Pirmatskanjumi”, in which Ieva Saliete’s harpsichord, Arvīdas Kazlauskas’ saxophone, Edgars Cīrulis’s piano and Erik Miež’s vibrophone and various percussions sounded along with the singers’ voices. The range of music ranged from the works of 16th century authors – William Byrd, Peter Phillips, Lukas Marenzio and Orlando Gibbons – to the opus of the Estonian Marija Kērvitsa and four Latvian composers – Sabīne Ķezbera, Andras Dzenīš, Madaras Pētersones and Edgars Cīrulis. The music of the distant century was dressed in new colors by Edgars Cīrulis – in such a version, it really sounded for the first time in Riga.
How this program was created, formed and developed, both Antra Dreģe and two composers – Madara Pētersone and Edgars Cīrulis told Dina Dūdiņa-Kurmiņa before the concert in the “Klasikas” studio.
