“I’ve basically tried every fad diet you can think of except the consistency diet,” Robert Pattinson (36) told the Evening Standard in an interview in the latest issue. “I once ate only potatoes and nothing else for two weeks to cleanse my body. Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt.”
“Obviously, the body is cleansing itself… you must be losing weight,” added the actor.
Pattinson said that he also tried the keto diet, thinking that he would be able to live on meat and cheese plates all the time.
“But I didn’t understand that I wouldn’t be allowed to drink beer, because it completely destroys the goal,” the actor said.
Pattinson’s comments follow a discussion about what society expects and the pressure men feel to conform to a certain visual image.
“Yes, it’s crazy,” concluded the actor. “It’s very, very easy to fall into that frenzy even if you’re just watching your calories. It’s incredibly addictive – you don’t realize how insidious it is until it’s too late.”
Robert Pattinson, who shot to fame with his roles in the ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Twilight’ franchises, has had experience with diets and fitness regimes as he prepares for various film roles.
Most recently, in preparation for his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in “The Batman”, Pattinson has been working hard on improving his physical shape, although he jokes in interviews that he hasn’t done much yet. The actor followed a strict diet, as a result of which he even counted the taken “sips of water” before the scenes in which he had to film shirtless in the superhero saga.
