18-year-old Russian figure skater Mark Kondratiuk, who became the Pyongyang-2022 Olympic champion in the team tournament, was drafted into the Russian army, fakty.ua reports.

Mark Kondratyuk is one of 39 athletes enlisted in the army for a week-long “young fighter course”. “Soldiers will receive 40 hours of tactical, firefighting and engineering training. Soldiers will learn general military regulations, military topography, pass physical and combat training,” the Army Club website said.

However, given the pace of mobilization in the Russian Federation, only training for newcomers is unlikely. Many of them, including Mr. Kondratyuk, will certainly be sent to war against Ukraine, writes fakty.ua.
